NLFWC studied the issues in the Roseland community area and developed the TCH Multi-Media Program in partnership with The Content House (TCH). The program was developed as a means to provide underprivileged or underserved Roseland community youth critical social and personal skills by enriching, equipping and empowering youth in the Roseland community through creative redirection. Through weekly development sessions and activities, participants learn how to positively redirect what they see, think and express/speak through music and multi-media, including songwriting, singing, poetry, photography and videography. Program offerings include the following:
  • Communication and professional presence
  • Art therapy
  • Music production and performance
  • Career and money management
  • Poetry slams
  • Art displays
  • Concerts
  • Plays
  • Weekly off-site events
  • Quarterly culminating events
The program is hosted at NLFWC in Roseland where the youth participate in various trainings around communication, professional presence, self-esteem/confidence, music production and performance, and money and career management, all facilitated by professionals with Masters and Bachelors degrees in each area.
While the nucleus of the program is housed at New Life Family Worship Center located in the Roseland community, the organization recognizes the value of the youth experiencing different environments and cultivating their minds by traveling outside of the Roseland community area. As such, once a week participants commute to TCH located in South Holland. TCH provides a place where the children and young adults in the surrounding community can engage in a tactile experience in the arts by utilizing the recording studio, media rooms, training facility and performance space. In addition, the organization plans to take the youth downtown Chicago to experience fine arts programs, such as plays and theater productions to visualize themselves as successful professionals in the multi-media arena.
The organization’s main participants will be derived from elementary schools that surround the New Life Family Worship Center church and 30 children and young adults in the Roseland community per quarter.
At NLFWC we strongly believe that our youth are the answer. Not the problem.
